Albert Einstein said that imagination is more important than knowledge. Indeed, imagination can lead people
to places where they never thought they could go. It is the path from ignorance to light.
It's no surprise then that most of the big scientific discoveries have been made by the people with strong
imagination. True knowledge springs from self-realisation which is possible through fertile imagination, rather
than through other people and books. Most creative works are works of imagination. One should let one's
imagination roam. But if people cannot get out of the rut of the existing knowledge, knowledge itself cannot
expand in the world.
Some believe human beings are made in image of God. If so, then there is every possibility of discovering
untold riches within oneself. Deep awareness of one's potentialmakers the impossible possible.
What led the Wright brothers to assemble an aeroplane when no implement remotely resembling their craft
had ever been built? It was indeed their power of imagination that inspired them to push ahead to build a flying
object. The same was the case with Isaac Newton whose imagination was piqued by a falling apple. Action
always followed imagination and ideas. Laxmi Prasad Devkota is another example. He had the most incredible
power of imagination, which helped establish him as the greatest Nepali poet.
As the saying goes, if a person aims for the stars and puts all his effort into it, even if he doesn't reach his
destination, he'll not end up with a handful of dust. It is imagination which gives one's dream fulfilment. Seeing
oneself as one wants to be seen helps overcome many obstacles. No doubt, imagination alone is not all.
But it must be fused with determination.
Who would have thought a hundred years ago what we have now would be possible? The Internet, the mind-
boggling advances in the sciences, as well as in other fields. If our forefathers had been content by what they
had, where would we be now? Somebody did not say for nothing that the word 'impossible' is to be found in the
dictionary alone. People with rich imagination and a matching resolution do not believe in the idea of 0 impossibility.
